POLY RING PRIMED S
- PRE PRIMED POLYSTYRENE HALF RINGS - flat on base side, gently rounded top surface
- Can be rather fragile, they do not like rough treatment
- For priming, the surfaces are painted in PVA then layers of tissue paper are wrapped round and round over the ring, then the paper is sealed and fixed in position with PVA, leaving a slightly rough, textured finish with smoothed folds of tissue.
- The ring can then be painted with acrylic or emulsion if a coloured background is required
- The above gives added strength to the polystyrene, making the ring more durable if planning to use pins (best placed at an acute angle into the ring) in the wreath decorating. The insertion of many pins can weaken the inner and outer structure of the poly ring may cause it to break at weakened points. The tissue/PVA helps keep the structure intact.
