Stash & Clutter!

STASH BUSTING - STEP by STEP - BOX by BOX

WHERE to START? How did I let it get into this state in the first place? It is an overwhelming mess entirely of my own making. The time has come to reinstate the room to its former glory.

INTRODUCING the CHAOTIC 'WORKROOM' full to the brim of STASH and CLUTTER

This was once a lovely, large, bright room away from the main house approached from the outside that my 4 sons used as a 'games' room. It had a settee, exercise equipment, a large table, TV and SPACE!

Once they left home, (20 years ago) I joyfully took it over as my space. Initially there were 3 huge tables, shelving on one wall, cupboards and plenty of light from 3 big windows. A dream workroom.

How did I manage to get it into its present state? It only took a few years! Now I can barely move round the room. I hide the key and reluctantly allow family members over the threshold to view my chaotic mess. Some of my grandchildren have never been allowed to venture behind Gran's secret door!

STASH BUSTING - TAKING the FIRST LITTLE STEPS

As my youngest son says 'start small, one box at a time, be ruthless'. Its the 'ruthless' bit I have an issue with! First problem is once I start sorting the boxes I have to have somewhere to put the 'KEEP' items for all those planned projects, hence the RE-STASHING begins! After all I bought them for a reason.

First task is to create a space for the inevitable KEEPING and RE-STASHING of items.

Second task is to buy and/or collect boxes for the sorting, ideally transparent plastic boxes with lids. Located some of the latter in recent sales, so have a good stock on standby.

Third task is to have plenty of labels and marker pens to hand to label and number said boxes. Plus a lined notebook to record details of every box of kept contents and the intended projects.

Fourth, now I'm ready to tackle the first boxes, maybe some easy ones - baubles and baskets!
